There are a number of routes that can be taken while you raft upstream the Nile. Some of the mild routes are easy going and allow you to float while taking in the lush green beautiful scenery and wildlife without being tossed about by the rapids. The family float which is a big boat that can carry a big group is merrier as you enjoy the beat of the rapids with your loved ones. You can also opt for the more adventurous routes that will have you enjoying the heavier rapids. The thrill and adrenaline that comes with the beating of the heavy rapids is unmatched at the Itanda and Busowoko falls.
The rapids cover a 20km stretch of river with some mild and wild routes. Whether you chose the wilder section or the mild section, the beautiful scenery and wildlife will be equally the same. There are some chances of swimming in the calmer sections of the rapids. Besides water rafting, Jinja which also doubles as the source of the Nile offers exciting and adventurous activities like kayaking, quad biking, horse riding and bungee jumping. On a slower pace, you can also do some bird watching with chances of spotting species like the papyrus gonolek, white-backed night heron and crimson-rumped waxbill. Boat rides to Bujagali falls dam are also a calm way to enjoy an evening in Jinja.
