This 10 day Rwanda safari takes you through different tourist sites spread across Rwanda. It is all about exploring and experiencing the scenic Rwanda from the Eastern province to West and also farther Southern Province. This tour package brings you a mixture of experiences from the savannas, rainforest and mountainous areas. Land at Kigali International Airport (KGL) and you will be picked up by your driver guide. Drive out of the airport and you will be heading off to the pre-booked hotel in Kigali for your relaxation and overnight stay.

Breakfast will be offered at your hotel and embark on Kigali city tour. The short Kigali excursion includes visiting Kigali memorial centre, Kimironko market and other closest historical or cultural sites. Start driving to the far Eastern province of Rwanda and spend about 2.5 hours on the road. Have a relaxed stay at the checked in lodge, enjoy a leisurely lunch till in the afternoon when you will be embarking on a boat cruise for 2-3 hours on Lake Ihema. Lake Ihema boat cruise sightings will include hippos, crocodiles and water birds.

Early in the morning, leave your lodges for an early morning game drive and this is for you to look out for the morning risers. The 2-3 hour guided game drive along the rich game tracks of Akagera NP comes with sights such as bush elephants, cape buffaloes, lions, leopards, Masai giraffes, waterbucks, Klipspringers, cape elands, bushbucks, topis, and zebras.

Get back to enjoy lunch, relax and you will again embark on a boat or launch cruise on Lake Ihema. Keep eyes on several water species such as hippos, crocodiles and bird species.

Today, you will wake up early to have breakfast and after, check out. Begin your road trip to the Southern Province of Rwanda and en-route, a brief stopover will be made to explore Ethnographic museum and Nyanza King’s palace then settle for lunch still at Huye. Continue up to Nyungwe for you to check in at the pre-booked accommodation for relaxation, dinner and a night stay.

Chimpanzees are a few most interesting and unique primates worth searching for on Rwanda safari. Today, you will be reporting to briefing location either Uwinka or Cyamudongo and get to know the dos and don’ts for chimpanzee trekking. The park guide will be assigned to lead you on a search for a troop for chimpanzees with a guarantee of one hour for a close encounter and photo taking. Afternoon session will include a canopy walk through a suspended canopy walkway set 60m from the ground and walk for 200m. This is the first of its kind experience to be introduced in East Africa and you will also be spotting some primates.

A hefty breakfast to be enjoyed at the comfort of your accommodation and after, check out of the lodge. Start your road trip in a 4×4 tourist car from Nyungwe to Volcanoes National Park where you will have a relaxed evening at the pre-booked lodge.

Following a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking regulations and to be assigned to a gorilla group to visit. The trek begins as soon as park guides are allocated to you and each guide takes a group of 8 visitors to see a gorilla family assigned to them. Your day trek will be unpredictable, but expect to go for 2-6 hours and includes one hour for you to explore how mountain gorillas behave and taking pictures. Return and spend the rest of the evening relaxing at your accommodation options.

Gather at Kinigi Visitor Centre for briefing about golden monkey tracking regulations and the park guides will also be assigned to visitors. The actual trekking to view golden monkeys begins at 8am and runs for 2-4 hours which includes one hour for up close and personal with these beautiful primates while in their natural habitat. In the afternoon when you will be done with lunch, continue with a cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu cultural village. This will have you exposed to the unique traditions, norms, cultures of the Rwandese.

Begin your beautiful day with a delicious cup of tea or coffee and you will be picked up, transferred to Lake Kivu. Arrive early and expect to embark on a boat ride or other activities like kayaking. The rest of the evening will be just for you to chill at the lodge and viewing the lake and some of its aquatic species.

Enjoy a leisurely cup of tea/coffee and you will check out of the accommodation facility. Set off from Rwanda Volcanoes NP to Entebbe and marks the end of 10-day safari.
