This 3 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking From Kigali is a lifetime journey to enjoy up close and personal with the rare mountain gorillas in the wild. Get a chance to immerse yourself into the untamed wilderness of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a rich natural rainforest where mountain gorillas and chimpanzees co-exist. This is a special journey to search for habituated mountain gorilla family with the lead of an experienced park guide.
As you penetrate deep into the dense jungles of Bwindi, keep eyes on the diversity of other faunal and floral species. Over 120 mammal species call Bwindi home and include a total of about 459 mountain gorillas. This park is a recognized UNESCO Site and also harbors about 88 moth species, 51 reptiles, 350 species of birds and scenic waterfalls. Bwindi National Park straddles in the far Southwestern Uganda in the districts of Kabale, Kanungu and Kisoro. It extends up to 331sq.km, consisting of 4 sectors –Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija, and Nkuringo.

Arrival
Pick up at your accommodation in the Kigali city, the most vibrant city and business hub of Rwanda. Embark on a 4 to 5 hours’ journey from the beautiful Kigali capital and head off to Chanika or Katuna border where you will clear with border authorities. Cross to Kisoro (Chanika border) or Kabale (Katuna border) and make a brief stopover. Continue with a scenic drive via the spectacularly beautiful rolling hills of Kigezi region as you access the park to check in at your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Begin your day with a hefty breakfast at the lodge and join the rest of the guests for briefing in your respective gorilla trekking sectors (Ruhija, Nkuringo, Rushaga or Buhoma). The briefing will be done by the tourism warden and you will have insight into dos and don’ts for gorilla trekking. You will also be assigned both the park ranger guide and gorilla family to trek in a group comprising of 8 visitors.
Exit the briefing location for a 2-6 hour journey involving immersing yourselves into the rich tropical forest of Bwindi. On locating a family of these unique apes, a maximum of 1 hour will be dedicated for you to explore the feeding, socializing, grooming and playing habits and behaviors of your favorite primates. After captivating moments with these amazing creatures, begin trekking back to the park offices to be awarded a certificate and later, connect to the lodge.
Late in the afternoon, you will join others on the Batwa cultural experience. This will be a great opportunity to meet, interact and explore more about the Batwa pygmies –the original occupants of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest who also will display their unique dances and cultural music performances.
At leisure, enjoy your tasty cup of tea/coffee and you will be picked up by the driver guide. Your drive journey will cover 4-5 hours on a scenic view of two countries –Rwanda and Uganda. Drop off will be at the hotel or direct to the airport – Kigali International Airport (KGL) for departure.
