YOUR ITINERARY

This is your first safari day in Uganda where you will be received by our professional driver guide upon your arrival at Entebbe airport and be driven to your pre-arranged hotel in Kampala by the Big Apes Africa Safari guide for relaxation and lunch.

After lunch, you will have a briefing about your safari itinerary and head for a city tour to different destinations for example the Uganda museum at Kitante hill, Kasubi tombs which is the burial grounds for Buganda Kings, Namugongo Uganda martyrs shrine where pilgrims gather to commemorate the 32 young men who were killed for their refusal to renounce Christianity and later return to the hotel for dinner and a night stay.

Today on your 20 days stay Safari in Uganda, You will wakeup to have breakfast, check-out of the hotel to meet your driver and catch your 4 to 5hours’ drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way you will have various stop-overs such as at Mpambire drum makers’ village where you will experience the process undertaken to make drums out of animal hides and tree logs. Proceeding with your journey, you will have a second stop-over at the Equator in Kayabwe to have the two – hemisphere experience where the earth is divided into two equal parts as you take photos and make visits to craft shops with a lunch enroute in Mbarara city. Arrive in the late afternoon to check-in at your reserved lodge around the park for dinner and an overnight stay.

This beautiful day starts with a morning breakfast, connect to your driver guide and a park ranger to start your game viewing in the Park’s savannah plains through various park trails as you encounter first comers of the jungle for example Antelopes, Zebras, Topis, Elands, Impalas, Duikers, Klipspringers, Reedbucks, Giraffes and many more.

Return to the lodge to have lunch and later head for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo which is the largest in the Park. This cruise  of your Safari in Uganda will expose you to various water birds and animals such as crocodiles and hippopotamuses as you enjoy the afternoon breezes of the Lake. Return to have dinner at the lodge and a night stay waiting to catch your drive to Mgahinga in the next morning.

You will wake-up to grab your cup of tea/coffee and check-out to embark on your 6 to 7hours’ drive to Mgahinga National Park traversing through meandering roads and rolling hills with an en-route at Lake Bunyonyi to have lunch and proceed for a canoe ride as you enjoy scenic views of the surrounding areas, sights and sounds of various bird species. Retire off the canoe to embark on your drive to Mgahinga National Park which is 2 hours arriving in the evening to check-in at a reserved lodge in Mgahinga for dinner and an overnight.

After your hefty breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the golden monkey trekking etiquettes and your expectations. Hike to the bamboo dominated forests with a ranger guide to meet this endangered monkey specie. These move in troops and their search can take about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their movement in search for food.

Enjoy an hour with a troop as you closely spot them play and feed on bamboo shoots and leaves. Return back to the lodge for lunch and later proceed for the Batwa trial experience where you will have an insight of how they thrived in the forests with animals as hunters and wild fruit gatherers. Garama caves will be the trail’s denouement as you retire back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

This day starts with a heavy breakfast before proceeding to the park headquarters to have a briefing about what to expect, carry with and the history of this fabulous extinct volcano. You will proceed with the official guides and a park ranger to the park’s swampy areas traversing through thick vegetation zones dominated by bamboo plants where you may encounter forest Elephants, golden monkeys, gorillas arriving at the summit to experience the best views of its neighboring areas of Lake Bunyonyi, Rwenzori Mountain, Lake Kivu in Rwanda, hills and forests of DRC.  It’s at this summit that you will be standing in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo and later descend back to the lodge to invigorate, have dinner and an overnight of your Safari in Uganda.   

Wakeup so early to grab your breakfast and check-out to catch your 3hours drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the early afternoon to check-in at a pre-arranged lodge for lunch and then proceed for a visit to Lake Mutanda. It is at Lake Mutanda that you will have unforgettable experience as you explore different islands on a motorized boat such as Bird Island, Kyangushu Island, Kabaya Island and many more that all portray a lot of history to be told as you view various bird types and enjoy its breathtaking scenic beauty. You will later descend back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Wakeup so early in the morning to have breakfast, meet your driver guide and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking dos and don’ts and allocation of the gorilla family that you will go searching. You will then proceed to Bwindi’s dense forests in search for these habituated gentle giants which may take 1 to 6 hours to locate a family. Once a family is located, you will enjoy an hour with the gorillas as you will closely spot them go by their normal duties.

Return to the lodge to have lunch and check-out to embark on your 3 to 4 hours’ drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the southern sector where you are guaranteed of spotting tree climbing lions. Arrival will be in the evening to check-in at a reserved lodge for your dinner and a night stay.

Having had breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters to meet a game ranger and experts from the Uganda carnivore program and proceed as early as 8am to the jungle of Kasenyi plains where you will get close to these big cats while you learn more about their feeding habits, behavior in the jungle and their reproduction habits. This is one of the most fascinating activities as it is conducted only in Queen Elizabeth national park.

Retire off the jungle back to the lodge for lunch and later head to have a highlight of a wildlife safari in Africa. This spectacular activity lasts for 2 to 3 hours as you sail between classes of Hippopotamuses and crocodiles while having magical views of birds roaming the channel and various animals quenching their thirst on its waters. Return back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Wakeup so early to have breakfast and proceed for game viewing in the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will have the best wildlife encounter as you spot various animals like Warthogs, Antelopes, Elephants, Buffaloes, Lions, bushbucks, banded mongoose and many more with various bird species. Descend back to the lodge to have lunch and check-out to catch your 2 to 3hours’ drive to Kibale forest National Park the world’s primate capital arriving in the evening to check-in at a pre-arranged lodge to have dinner and a night stay.

This amazing day starts with a hefty breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing and strike the forests of Kibale with a ranger guide to locate our closest cousins. The trek is likely to take you 2 to 5 hours depending on their movement as you come across various primates for example L’Hoest’s monkey, black and white colobus, red-tailed monkey, Baboons and many more.

Spend an hour with the great apes and after retire back to the lodge for lunch after which you will depart for a visit to the Ndali-kasenda crater region to enjoy the stunning views of crater lakes like Nyabikere, Nkuruba, Nyinambuga to mention but a few and their surroundings. This also gives you the opportunity to watch various bird types and later retire back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Wakeup to have breakfast and proceed for a 3 hours’ nature walk in the home of the great Turaco as you encounter numerous primates, bird species and various mammals like Bushbucks, Otters and Sitatungas as you enjoy its breathtaking scenic beauty.

Descend back to the lodge for your lunch as you prepare to check-out to embark on your drive to Semliki National Park. Arrival will be in the late afternoon to check-in at a lodge for your dinner and an overnight stay.

After your delicious breakfast, proceed to experience the Sempaya hot springs that portray both geographical and cultural formations that will all be told by the guide. You will hike through the Sempaya nature trail to arrive at the hot springs to have that thrilling experience as you spot hot water bubbling and boiling as it continuously jets out of the ground. Descend back to the lodge for lunch as you enjoy spectacular views of various birds and animals along the trail.

After lunch, proceed to Boma cultural village for a cultural encounter with the Batwa, an indigenous group of people that initially survived on hunting and wild fruits gathering in Semliki’s forests. You will enjoy their cultural performances as you also learn more about their ancient way of life. Descend back to the lodge for diner and an overnight.

Wakeup to greet your intestines of Safari in Uganda with a morning meal, meet your driver guide and strike the savannah plains of Semliki wildlife reserve for game viewing as you spot various animals like Warthogs, white-tailed mongoose, pygmy hippopotamuses, Bush babies, Buffaloes and many more as you capture their photos and videos. Return to the lodge for an early lunch, check-out and catch your 5 to 6hours’ adventurous drive to Murchison falls National Park arriving in the evening to check-in at a reserved lodge for your dinner and an overnight stay.

Grab your morning breakfast and proceed to have the most entertaining activity in the park as you sail to the bottom of the falls. You will start your cruise at paraa as you sail towards the dramatic falls traversing schools of Hippopotamuses and crocodiles while you spot various animals showering and quenching their thirst along the river bank and bird species roaming the Nile waters.

Clearly experience that thunderous sound and white waters as water forces itself through a narrow gorge to hit the rocks from a high elevation.

Get back to the lodge for lunch and later proceed for game viewing where you will spot four of the big fives such as Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards and other animals like the Giraffes, bushbucks, warthogs to mention but a few. Retire back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Having had your breakfast, check-out of Murchison to embark on your journey to a haven of Cheetahs and Ostriches as you traverse through eye-catching scenic views of hills and Karamoja settlements with patched mantattas having your lunch en-route along the way arriving in the evening to check-in at a pre-arranged lodge for relation after your long drive, have dinner and an overnight stay as you wait to explore the most isolated National Park in the country.

You will have breakfast served in the morning, meet your driver guide and head out for a game drive in the Narus valley that is naturally gifted with water supply from the Narus river which attracts large concentrations of bird types and animals for example Buffaloes, Antelopes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, Giraffes and many more as you watch Lions, cheetahs, Leopards trying to hunt down their prey.

Get back to the lodge for lunch and later proceed to mount Morungole where you will meet the ancient settlers of the current Kidepo National Park known as the IK people. Ensure to learn about their way of life as you enjoy their cultural performances before you descend back to the lodge for your dinner and an overnight.

Wakeup to an energizing breakfast, check-out of the lodge to embark on your journey to Sipi falls as you have your last glance at the wildlife in Kidepo National Park. Along your 7 hours’ drive to Kapchorwa, you will have a lunch en-route along the way proceeding as you enjoy the scenic beauty of northeastern Uganda. Arrival will be in the evening to check-in at a reserved lodge to have dinner and a night stay.

This amazing day starts with a hefty breakfast and proceed for a hike to experience the best of Sipi falls endowed with beautiful bird species that are all worth capturing. You will hike to the top of the falls with the guidance of a local guide as you have an insight about the falls’ formation which will all amaze you.

Descend back to the lodge for your lunch, check-out to catch your 3 hours’ drive to Jinja as you enjoy the scenic beauty of Mountain Elgon arriving in the evening to check-in at lodge for dinner and a night stay.

Wakeup so early to enjoy your last safari breakfast and proceed to have a cruise on Lake Victoria waters to go witness where the world’s longest River starts flowing northwards to countries of Sudan and Egypt. It’s at this point that you may decide to participate in other activities for example white water rafting or bungee jumping which are all adventurous and exciting to take on.

Retire off the waters back to the lodge for lunch and check-out to catch this 2 hours’ drive to Kampala as you traverse through Mabira forest arriving in the late afternoon to be dropped at a hotel or Entebbe airport depending on the time of your flight back home.
